UEFA pledges to spend €1 bn to develop women's football in Europe

UEFA has pledged to spend €1 billion ($1.08 billion) to develop women's football in Europe over the next six years. UEFA said its goal is to make "football the most-played team sport for women...in [Europe]" and to double the number of professional national leagues to six. It also aims to raise the number of professional players from 3,000 to 5,000.
