UK car manufacturing hits 66-year low in 2022 at 7,75,014 units

UK car production fell to its lowest level since 1956 last year, according to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT). The car production fell nearly 10% to 7,75,014 units in 2022 due to an ongoing global semiconductor shortage and pandemic-related lockdowns in China, SMMT said. The figure is 41% down from 1.3 million cars made in 2019.
