UK city council rules out removing Mahatma Gandhi's statue

The UK's Leicester City Council ruled out the possibility of Mahatma Gandhi's statue being removed from the city. "I...give you...assurance that there's no prospect whatsoever of the council agreeing at any time to the removal of the statue," Peter Soulsby, Mayor of Leicester said. Earlier, a petition seeking its removal with over 6,000 signatures was submitted to the council.
