UK PM apologises for system which forced unmarried women to give up their babies

Outgoing UK PM Keir Starmer, on behalf of the whole country, apologised to women who were separated from their children in a system of forced adoption for decades after WWII. Young women who had children ​outside marriage were shamed and coerced into giving their babies up to comply ​with social norms. Starmer called it a "stain on our history".
