UK to invest ₹1,270 cr in 'world's 1st' pandemic-prevention AI lab

The UK will invest £100 million (nearly ₹1,270 crore) to establish "world's first" AI Biosecurity Lab (AIBL) to help strengthen its defences against emerging biological threats like pandemics. OpenAI and Anthropic also pledged up to a combined £200 million to the AI lab. The lab will bring together "world-leading scientific expertise", the UK government said.
