Ukraine marks 40 years since Chernobyl disaster amid war

Ukraine is commemorating the 40th anniversary of the world's biggest nuclear disaster at Chornobyl on Sunday, amid war with Russia that began in 2022. Ukraine has accused Russia of sending missiles and drones near Chornobyl, while a strike in February last year ​punctured a massive arc installed over part of the plant. The 1986 catastrophe led to thousands of deaths.
