Ukraine would join EU by 2027 under draft peace proposal: Report

Ukraine would join the European Union by January 2027 under a peace proposal being discussed as part of US-mediated negotiations, reported Reuters citing Financial Times. Ukraine applied for EU membership in 2022 and was granted formal candidate status months later. EU has a "merit-based" approach for admission of new members and Ukraine is yet to complete EU's 36 negotiating chapters.
