UK's COVID-19 death toll crosses 1.5 lakh amid Omicron surge

The UK has reported 1,50,057 fatalities since the COVID-19 pandemic hit the country in 2020, as per government figures. The UK recorded 1,46,390 new COVID-19 infections and 313 deaths on Saturday as cases due to the Omicron variant continue to rise in the country. Britain's cumulative coronavirus death toll is the second-highest in Europe, behind only Russia's.
