Bangladesh High Court has commuted the life imprisonment of separatist ULFA leader Paresh Baruah to 14 years imprisonment in a 2004 arms smuggling case under the country's Arms Act. Earlier, Baruah's death penalty was commuted to life imprisonment. The case involved smuggling of weapons, intercepted during the rule of ex-Bangladesh PM Khaleda Zia, intended for anti-India militant groups.
