Umar, Sharjeel 'masterminds' of 2020 riots: Delhi Police as it opposes bail

The Delhi Police opposed the bail pleas of former JNU students Umar Khalid and Sharjeel Imam in the 2020 Delhi riots larger conspiracy case, terming them as the "masterminds" of the violence. Police said the fresh bail petitions were "illegal" and attempted to "mislead" the court. They had filed appeals against a trial court order denying them bail in July.
