UN approves change of Turkey's official name to 'Türkiye'

The UN has changed Turkey's official name to 'Türkiye', following a request from Ankara for it. The rebranding is done in order to dissociate it from the bird of the same name and the negative connotations associated with it. "Türkiye is the best representation and expression of the Turkish people's culture, civilisation, and values," said the Turkish President last year.
