UN General Assembly backs Palestine's bid for full membership

The UN General Assembly on Friday overwhelmingly backed a resolution on Palestine being granted full membership of the world body and recommended the UN Security Council "reconsider the matter favourably". "We want peace, we want freedom," Palestinian U.N. Ambassador Riyad Mansour told the assembly before the voting. Earlier, US vetoed a UNSC resolution seeking full membership for Palestine.
