UN warns of 'lost generation' as 3.8 mn Afghan girls miss school

Afghan girls and women are facing severe restrictions under Taliban rule, with an estimated 3.8 million of them aged 7 to 18 out of school. "Each year, approximately 250,000 more girls are permanently excluded from secondary education...creating a lost generation of talent and potential," a UN representative said. Afghanistan remains one of the world's largest humanitarian crises, it added.
