The total unclaimed financial assets of Indians crossed ₹1.1 lakh crore in FY26. These include old bank accounts, stocks, and insurance policies, which were registered before Aadhaar or PAN were introduced. Due to discrepancies like spelling errors, missing nominees and document inconsistencies, beneficiaries struggle with paperwork while attempting to carry out digital KYC to withdraw funds.
