Unilever confirms interest in GSK unit, says 'No certainty of any agreement'

Unilever has confirmed that it had approached GlaxoSmithKline about acquiring its consumer goods business. The statement followed The Sunday Times' report saying Unilever had offered to buy GlaxoSmithKline's unit for roughly 50 billion pounds ($68.4 billion) last year, but the offer was rejected for being too low. "There can be no certainty that any agreement will be reached," Unilever said.
