Union Budget was presented at 5 pm not 11 am till 1999

Finance Minister will present Budget at 11 am on Saturday. Until 1999, Budget was presented at 5 pm, a practice inherited from pre-independence era. The time was convenient for Britishers to make simultaneous announcements in London and India as UK is five-and-a-half hours behind India. Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha broke the custom and presented it at 11 am in 1999.
