Unpaid tolls to attract double the fees, govt to send e-notices via WhatsApp under new rules

Unpaid highway tolls will now attract a penalty of twice the applicable fee under the government's amended rules. E-notices will be sent to the defaulter via SMS, e-mail, or messaging apps like WhatsApp, the new rules state. Commuters who don't pay the penalty fees within 15 days after receiving the e-notice will lose access to services provided via VAHAN portal.
