Unusual weather in Antarctica causes rain, Texas-sized melt

El Niño climate cycle, associated with the transfer of warm currents southwards, caused a Texas-sized melt in Antarctica due to rains, an unusual phenomenon in the deserted continent, scientists revealed. The presence of meltwater makes it more likely that the Ross ice shelf, world's largest body of floating ice will fracture, scientists fear, leading to a huge sea level rise.
