UP becomes India's 1st state with 2 expressway airstrips for fighter planes
With the completion of construction of a 3,300-metre-long airstrip near Kurebhar on Purvanchal Expressway, Uttar Pradesh has become the first state in India with two airstrips on expressways to facilitate emergency landing and take-off of fighter planes. The IAF is likely to test the new airstrip soon, said a government official. The Lucknow-Agra Expressway in UP also has an airstrip.
