UP forests launch ₹5-cr water conservation drive to save animals from heat
The Shivalik forest division in Uttar Pradesh's Saharanpur has launched a large-scale water conservation drive worth ₹5 crore to protect wildlife from the heatwave. Under the initiative, over 50 permanent and temporary structures have been developed to ensure a steady water supply for animals such as spotted deer, leopards and elephants. The structures include ponds, tubewells and mini check dams.
