UPRVUNL plans 4,250 MW battery energy storage systems (BESS) across six thermal power station sites in UP, with an estimated investment of ₹5,525 crore. An IIT-BHU feasibility study identified the potential. Jawaharpur alone accounts for 3,200 MW. The systems will store surplus daytime power for peak evening-night demand, covering 8% of CEA's projected state storage requirement.
