UP Speaker Mahana walks off stage midway through National Anthem, criticised

UP Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana walked off the stage while the National Anthem was being played during a principals’ council session and educational seminar in Unnao. Mahana received a guard of honour from the police, after which the National Anthem was played, but he descended from the stage and walked away. Congress MP Shama Mohamed called Mahana’s action “disrespectful”.
