Up to ₹500 crore fine for non-compliance proposed in draft Data Protection Bill

The government on Friday released the draft Digital Personal Data Protection Bill 2022 for public views. The bill proposes penalty of up to ₹500 crore on an individual or a company for non-compliance. It further requires a data fiduciary to give an itemised notice to user on data sought to be collected and mandates the user's right to withdraw consent.
