Upa Lokayukta flags 250+ illegal homestays in Hampi zones

Karnataka Upa Lokayukta Justice B. Veerappa has filed a suo motu case after reportedly finding over 250 unauthorised homestays operating across Hampi’s protected zones. More than 54 officials from various departments are under scrutiny over alleged regulatory lapses. The Upa Lokayukta has directed them to submit a comprehensive action-taken report by 1 September 2026.
