UPI apps oppose govt's ban on platform fees for UPI bill payments

UPI apps have raised concerns that the new MDR framework could make bill payments loss-making. From October 15, apps cannot charge customers platform fees, while bill payments above ₹2,000 will attract a ₹5 MDR, of which apps receive around Rs 1. Payments of ₹2,000 or less carry zero MDR, leaving apps with no direct revenue.
