UPI transactions cross 24 billion for first time in August

Unified Payments Interface (UPI) recorded its highest-ever monthly transaction volume in August 2026, with 24.51 billion transactions, according to the latest NPCI data. Compared with July, transaction volume increased 3.6%, while transaction value declined marginally to ₹29.82 lakh crore. Daily transaction volume also hit a new high, averaging 791 million transactions a day.
