Urban cooperative banks reported 1,000 frauds of ₹220 cr in last 5 yrs

Urban cooperative banks reported nearly 1,000 frauds worth ₹220 crore in last five years, RBI said. During 2018-19 itself, about 181 cases worth ₹127.7 crore were reported, while 99 and 27 such cases worth ₹46.9 crore and ₹9.3 crore were reported during 2017-18 and 2016-17, respectively. Maximum frauds were reported during 2014-15 with 478 cases worth ₹19.8 crore.
