Uruguay to melt down Nazi bronze eagle & recast it as peace dove

Uruguay will melt down a bronze Nazi eagle found on a sunken World War II-era German destroyer off its coast in 2006 and recast it into a dove of peace, Uruguayan President Luis Lacalle Pou said. The 350-kilogram and two-metre tall "symbol of violence and war" statue will be turned into a "symbol of peace and union", Pou added.
