US adds 1,43,000 jobs in January, unemployment rate slips to 4%

Employers in the US added 1,43,000 jobs in January 2025, compared to 3,07,000 in December and 2,63,000 in November last year, according to Department of Labor data. The unemployment rate slipped from 4.1% in December 2024 to 4% last month, it added. The data further revealed that average hourly wages rose by 0.5% from December and 4.1% from January 2024.
