US Army loses half its four-star generals under Hegseth

The US Army has lost half of its four-star generals since Pete Hegseth became Defence Secretary in January 2025. The Army had 10 active-duty four-star generals when Hegseth took office, but now has five. In April, Hegseth fired Chief of Staff Gen Randy George and has yet to name his replacement. He also removed three senior officers seen as successors.
