US charges Facebook over racial discrimination in housing ads

The US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has charged Facebook for violating the Fair Housing Act by encouraging, enabling and causing housing discrimination in advertising on its platforms. HUD is seeking damages for any person harmed by Facebook's advertising systems, which allowed employers and landlords to limit audiences on the basis of race, ethnicity and gender.
