US commits $1.5 billion loan to Wolfspeed for semiconductor supply

The US Department of War's Office of Strategic Capital announced a conditional $1.5 billion loan to Wolfspeed Inc to boost domestic production of silicon carbide and gallium nitride semiconductors used in defence systems, drones, directed energy weapons, and radar. The commitment remains subject to financial, legal, and technical due diligence before finalisation.
