US Dy Secy expresses 'respect & awe' for hero Indian pilot Smit Machchhar

US Deputy Secretary of State Christoper Landau expressed his "utmost respect and…awe" for Indian Captain Smit Machchhar for preventing "what would have been one of the world's most horrific terrorist incidents". He also thanked Israeli plumber Yaniv Hayoun, who subdued the co-pilot attacker and steadied the plane's controls, and other passengers. "India and Israel should be very proud," he added.
