US govt asks tech firms to identify users who criticise ICE online

US government's Department of Homeland Security has been asking tech companies like Google and Meta to reveal the identities of social media users who criticise Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), The New York Times reported. These companies received legal requests for the names, email addresses and telephone numbers of such users. Hundreds of subpoenas have been sent to these companies.
