US-India seal landmark co-production deal for fighter jet engines

General Electric Aerospace and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) have reached a landmark agreement to co-produce the F-414 jet engine in India. With nearly 80% of manufacturing technology and intellectual property rights set to be transferred, the deal marks a major US defence technology transfer. The engines are intended to power the Tejas Mk-2 and other upcoming indigenous fighter platforms.
