US indicts Southern Poverty Law Center, alleges $3 mn funneled to extremist groups

US Justice Department announced an indictment against the Southern Poverty Law Centre, a civil rights group, of defrauding donors and stoking “racial hatred”. It said SPLC secretly funnelled over $3 million in funds to members of extremist groups. SPLC lied to donors, vowing to dismantle violent extremist groups, and paid the leaders of very extremist groups like Ku Klux Klan.
