US is world's first country to quit UN Human Rights Council

The US is the world's first country to withdraw from the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC). The US joined the UNHRC in 2009 during the tenure of then-President Barack Obama. The US slammed the "biased" UNHRC for its criticism of the alleged violations committed by the Israeli forces on Palestinians and called for reforms in the global human rights body.
