US, Japan vow to collaborate more on defence against China

US and Japan vowed greater defence cooperation amid the growing Chinese challenge following their 2+2 virtual bilateral meeting. "China's efforts to undermine the rules-based order presented political, economic and military challenges to the region and the world," according to a joint statement issued by the two nations. The allies also discussed the Beijing-Taipei tensions in the meeting.
