US kills top Islamic State leader Ali Husayn al-'Ulaywi

US forces have killed senior ISIS leader Ali Husayn al-'Ulaywi in an airstrike conducted in northwest Syria last week, the Central Command said. "[We] remain committed to rooting out remaining remnants of ISIS to ensure its enduring defeat," it added. This comes as the Islamic State declared a new phase of operations in Syria against President Ahmed al-Sharaa's government.
