US lawmakers reach tentative deal to avoid fresh govt shutdown

US congressional negotiators said on Monday they reached a tentative deal on border security funding to avert a fresh partial government shutdown due to start on Saturday. However, an aide said the deal did not include the $5.7 billion President Donald Trump demanded for a border wall. The last government shutdown was the longest in the country's history.
