US man tries to make hybrid sheep from endangered species, booked
A US man, who illegally imported genetic material from Kyrgyzstan, aiming to create hybrid sheep, has pleaded guilty to wildlife crimes. He implanted cloned embryos into ewes on Montana ranch and bred endangered species - Marco Polo argali. Arthur Schubarth, 80, then utilised their semen to impregnate other sheep breeds, intending to produce larger hybrids for sale to trophy-hunting ranches.
