US man who received historic 'pig heart' stabbed a man 7 times years ago

The 57-year-old US man, who recently received a genetically-modified pig heart in the world's first such transplant, was convicted of stabbing a man seven times in 1988. The attack by David Bennett Sr left Edward Shumaker paralysed, The Washington Post reported. Bennett was imprisoned for six years and was ordered to pay $3.4 million to Shumaker and his family.
