US marks 80th anniversary of Pearl Harbor attack by Japan during WW2

The US on Tuesday will mark the 80th anniversary of the attack on the US naval base at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii, carried out by Japan on December 7, 1941, during World War II. The US defeated Japan after dropping two atomic bombs on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, killing hundreds of thousands of civilians in August 1945.
