US offers ₹84,000 stipend to illegal migrants who self-deport

The Donald Trump administration will offer a $1,000 (around ₹84,000) stipend and travel assistance to illegal migrants who voluntarily "self-deport" from the US, the Department of Homeland Security said. The agency added that this would cost less than an actual deportation. The average cost of arresting, detaining and deporting someone without legal status is $17,000 (₹14 lakh), as per DHS.
