US panel chair calls China's Taiwan east coast patrols 'destabilising'

Randall Schriver, chair of the US-China Economic and Security Review Commission, warned at a Taipei forum that China's Coast Guard patrols east of Taiwan — increasing since June — are "highly destabilising" and amount to legal, political and information warfare. Taiwan officials fear the patrols are preparation for a maritime blockade using military and civilian assets.
