US President Trump fires 17 independent govt watchdogs

US President Donald Trump has fired 17 independent government watchdogs across several federal agencies. The concerned watchdogs had an oversight role to deter fraud, waste and abuse by government employees. Among the federal agencies affected by the ousters were departments of defence, state, interior and energy, as well as Environmental Protection Agency and Social Security Administration.
