US proposes ₹67 lakh fee for foreign students seeking temporary work
The US Department of Homeland Security has proposed a $70,000 (₹67 lakh) fee for F-1 students seeking initial Optional Practical Training (OPT), a temporary work authorisation linked to their field of study. It also proposed a $30,000 (₹29 lakh) fee for subsequent OPT. DHS said it aims to combat fraud, strengthen immigration system integrity and protect US workers.
