US records over 2,300 measles cases in 2026, most cases in 35 yrs

US' Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed 2,318 measles cases in 2026, recording the worst outbreak of measles in 35 years. The previous highest cases were recorded in 1991 with 9,643 measles cases. US had declared measles eradicated in 2000 with help from vaccination but saw a return in recent years due to declining immunisation rates, medical experts said.
