US rejected 31% of MDH exports since Oct over salmonella: Report

US customs officials have rejected 31% of all spice-related exports by MDH since October 2023 over salmonella contamination, The Indian Express reported citing US FDA data. This is double from the 15% refusal rate MDH recorded in the US between October 2022 and September 2023. When consumed, salmonella-infected foods can cause severe stomach infection that affects the intestinal tract.
