US researchers create device that helps paralysed people talk using 'avatars'

Researchers at UC San Francisco have created a device that helps people with severe paralysis communicate through an avatar that speaks and gestures on their behalf. A skull implant captures brain signals as users try to speak or move, while AI translates them into words and gestures. The system currently recognises about 10 phrases and gestures with roughly two-thirds accuracy.
